Eva Giolo (b.1991, Brussels) is an artist working across film, video, and installation. Her work has been exhibited at Sadie Coles HQ in London, WIELS in Brussels, MAXXI in Rome, GEM in the Hague, BOZAR in Brussels, M HKA in Antwerp, Kunsthalle Wien, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and major film festivals like Rotterdam, Viennale, FID Marseille, Cinéma du Réel, Punto de Vista and Courtisane.
Giolo won the VAF Wildcard for experimental film (2016), the Cedric Willemen Award in 2019 and the price of recognition of the Vordemberge – Gildewart Foundation Award in 2020.
She is a laureat from HISK (2018-2020) and a former art resident at SeMA NANJI (2020), the year-long film–writing residency Conversation #4 (initiatived by CVB) and GSARA, in partnership with Beursschouwburg), CASTRO studio program (2021) and WIELS (2021). Eva has been selected to be an art resident at RU Unlimited in New York and Fogo Island Arts in Fogo Island in 2022.
Her last film Flowers blooming in our throats had been nominated for The European film award and awarded the Top Prize at THIS IS SHORT 2021, received the National Award Special Mention at Lago Film Fest 2021, the jury special mention at First Crossings Festival and the Critics’s jury award at 25FPS Festival.
