“Inferru is an extremely acute depiction of people living at the bottom of the society. Sensitive and of immediate concern, the choice of telling the story from the point of view of a ghost renders a sense of horror: generations of workers were stuck under the ground with no way out; even death cannot stop the plight to be inflicted on the generations to come. The use of footages from the documentary L’ultimo pugno di terra complements and enhances the exploration of identity oppression and class society, a discourse that remains valid even today.” (YAO Mengxi, Jury Member)
