Evelyn Hang Yin is an interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Working at the intersection of personal and collective archives, Yin is invested in history, (dis)placement, diasporic memories and futures.
Yin has exhibited at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, the New Wight Gallery, LA Artcore, and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions. Her films have screened at CAAMFest, LA Asian Pacific Film Festival, Asian American International Film Festival, and Mammoth Lakes Film Festival. She is a recipient of the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Creative Research Grant and the Allan Sekula Social Documentary Fund. She was an Armed with a Camera Fellow with Visual Communications and the Media and Production Fellow with Arts in a Changing America. Her work has also been featured in aint-bad, SupChina, Google Arts & Culture, Sohu News, Library of Congress Blogs, For Freedoms campaigns, among others.
She has taught at Las Fotos Project, artworxLA, California State Summer School for the Arts, California Institute of the Arts, and guest lectured at Caltech and Stanford University. She received a BA in Political Science and Media Studies from University of California, Berkeley and an MFA in Photography and Media from California Institute of the Arts.
