FERNEY IYOKINA GITTOMA is an indigenous Okaina from La Chorrera, Amazonas, Colombia. With a degree in Biology from the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, he participated in the recovery of historical memory of the rubber plantation fields in the Amazon for the Centro Nacional de Memoria Histórica. As a director and producer, he created "El Excontador" (2017), an audiovisual installation showcased at the National Museum of Colombia and the Cinemateca de Bogotá. His documentary short film "YVUUHZA OKAINA" (2022) has garnered acclaim at national and international festivals such as Bogoshorts, Beijing, Santiago de Chile and FICCALI, winning awards for its representation of indigenous culture. Ferney strives to leave a legacy for his community by combining research and audiovisual creation to promote diversity and indigenous participation in the field of cinema.
