Jad Youssef is a filmmaker, artist, teacher and independent researcher. His work probes different social peripheries, obscured landscapes, and urban enigmas, extending into speculative inquiries around digital and virtual marginalization, data politics, and the evolving futures of connectivity.

Jad is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Arts at the American University of Beirut. He has also contributed to cultural and archival initiatives such as Cinematheque Beirut at Metropolis Cinema and collaborated with artists, filmmakers, and institutions on projects spanning experimental film, archival research, and media production.

His work has been presented internationally at venues and festivals including Images Festival (Canada), ULTRAcinema (Mexico), BFI London Film Festival, Eye Film Museum (Amsterdam), Rencontres Internationales Paris–Berlin, the Center Pompidou (Paris), and Deborah Schamoni Galerie (Munich). Upcoming projects include a research residency at Paradise Air (Japan 2025). Recent works include Radius Catastrophe (2025), supported by the Goethe-Institut and AFAC.

Youssef has received awards and fellowships from Haven for Artists, Fondation Liban Cinema, Ashkal Alwan, among others, as well as funding from AFAC and the Goethe-Institut.
He holds an MA in Artistic Research from the Netherlands Film Academy and a BA in Audiovisual Studies from Saint Joseph University, Beirut.
