Lapo Mamoli Aprile is an Italian director and screenwriter based in London. After completing part of his studies in the United States, he graduated in Creative Writing in London, receiving top academic recognition for his achievements. Fluent in Mandarin and connected to both European and Asian cultures, he has directed projects across Italy, the UK, and China — from narrative shorts to music videos and documentary works. His upcoming documentary, Where Do We Come From? Who Are We? Where Are We Going? — filmed in Shanghai and currently in post-production — is inspired by Paul Gauguin’s painting of the same name and reflects on connection and disconnection within contemporary urban life. His work often explores how people, emotions, and places intersect within a rapidly changing global landscape. In 2024, he co-founded FORME FILM with Edoardo Gabbai — a production company created to build the kind of creative space he felt was missing: one that serves a new generation of filmmakers and connects stories between the UK, Italy, and China. Together, they continue to develop their own projects as well as support emerging voices shaping the new world.
