Born and raised in China, Qian Li is a bilingual writer-director whose films have screened at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, aired on Vermont PBS, and reached more than six million viewers online.
Moving between fiction and non-fiction, her work explores a deeper perception of our everyday life through stories of mother-daughter relationships, the search for belonging, and the quiet, uncomfortable, in-between moments.
Qian holds an M.F.A. in Narrative Film Directing from the Beijing Film Academy and a B.A. in Film and English from Middlebury College. She also studied at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts as an exchange student.
