Zachary Yap (叶永杰) is a Singapore-based writer, director, and video artist. He participated in BiFAN’s NAFF Fantastic Film School (2021), Kyoto Filmmakers LAB (2021–22), Cinemovement (2024), Perth Festival LAB (2025), and the Apichatpong Weerasethakul Creators LAB in the Amazon Rainforest (2022). His films have screened at international festivals across Asia and Europe. He was awarded Best Impact Film at the 5th Mental Health Film Festival Singapore. Guided by the curiosity for how we see each other, Zachary’s works orbit between Southeast Asian cosmologies and myths. He sees cinema as a form of behaviour. Driven by agency, instinct, and tenderness, Zachary finds interest in the strange, the intimate, and the miraculous absurdity of life and knowledge that is deeply rooted in the human experience. Passionate about bold narratives, he continually seeks new ways to engage with cinema.
