Zuko Garagić’s speculative, experimental historical-biographical work has been described as “what Danilo Kiš might have devised, had he chosen the grain of 16mm.” By refracting historical fact through the present, Zuko asks whether history is an inexhaustible archive of answers or a void that swallows all detail. A graduate of NYU (summa cum laude) and Columbia University (MFA), where he also taught as a Fellow and Adjunct Professor, Zuko is pursuing a PhD at the University of Chicago. And Zuko currently has one mid-length documentary set during WWII and two short films entering post production.
