In 222, during yet another extravagant evening, Emperor Heliogabalus summons Zotikos, his former lover, from prison. Zotikos becomes a firsthand witness to Heliogabalus' narcissistic cult, amidst a spiral of destructive madness that ultimately leads to the emperor's downfall.
