This is a story about the life of a Monastery and the traces left upon it.
Built from the local rock, the monastery was first a cloistered convent devoted to sacrifice and penance, later a site of military discipline, until it fell into oblivion—only to be rescued by a handful of artists.
The passage of time and the events endured by the place have left a deep mark on the building and its surroundings. The wounds of the past invite reflection in this experimental piece of architectural cinema on the scars of time—geological time, architectural time, the time of plants, and the time of humans.
This is a cinematic intervention on architectural heritage, acting directly on the film through gestures akin to construction or destruction, depending on one’s perspective.
The erosion caused by the passage of time, the clearing of wild vegetation due to abandonment, or the quarrying that gave birth to the monastery all find their analogical counterpart in cinematic language.
It could be said that this is the story of a birth, a delivery, or an extraction—and its wounds.
