As Guangzhou was welcoming the 2008 Beijing Olympic torch, this “Burning Night” also embraced the hidden collective anger amid the cheers: people began to vandalize Japanese products. The troubles they recklessly caused unexpectedly stemmed from this collective anger. Like fireworks flashing through the tumultuous waves of their time, these marginalized youths intertwined their expectations of the vast world with the frenzy of nationalism and violence, creating an indiscernible future.
