In the countryside, it signifies that spring has arrived when thousands of cranes land in Lake Hornborga Nature Reserve to feed and rest. Here, they stay for a few weeks on their journey north before the breeding season. However, this is not a film about the cranes, despite the fact that we hear their songs, but rather a brief observation of the people who gather in nature to watch and listen to the birds, and of those who work to keep the reserve's flora and fauna alive.
