在心灵修复之旅中重逢
凝结过往的震荡与扰动，伴随着日常的回归与重整，从现实的影像世界，我们在可能会漫长持续的心灵修复之旅上，企盼与彼此的重逢。
新一届BISFF再度开启，在2023年度的曙光华语展映单元中，我们将呈现27部新作，带来新一年青年创作者们在影像上的锐利捕捉。
个体的审思与疗愈是依旧引发共鸣的议题，包括：聚焦跳水运动员失败创伤的《破水》（桑霓），尝试与视障孩童共振的《另一面镜子里的梦中之梦》（朱云逸）， 乌托邦之中孤独寻光的《夜光城》（张娴亦），以小丑为表皮寻找现实灵魂的《黄昏马戏团》（陈信源）。
同时，也有以更私人视角与语法进行延展的作品：《咬甲癖》（张怡雯）《谜谜》（邱润枫）以及《大象的形状》（桑宇轩）以实验，动画等丰富的形式各自呈现作者的独到美学思考。
《落滚水》（张诗雪）《毕业作品》（苏彦昭）《晓得不嘛》（张缝驿）《话语》（李铭）等作品则是以不同视角触击现实世界的特定场域，同时进行与社会时事的某种互文，而《流火记》（高静雯，陈嘉祥）《海底世界》（邱雨）《海上来客》（叶泽昕 ）则不约而同选择了内陆与海洋的地缘和历史探讨，形成某种和而不同的聚焦。
《中秋》（冯轶）《语言的爱》（马骜）《佛手》（梁彦琦）《浪花像是一朵云》（杨煜琳）等作品将通过家庭，代际，恋人伴侣与族群关系展开深入破解；而《我们置若罔闻的疤痕》（李星星）《当我走近你的时候》（刘雅琴）在同议题中带来了纪实类型独有的厚重与思辨；移民选题的《梦华录》（王歌曈）与扣问父权的《蘭父》（陈啟恒）则是技法与创作意识都非常自由的另辟蹊径之作。
此外，赛博科幻武侠风的《无二》（草虫鸣），聚焦乡村殡葬风波的《入土为安》（蔡坤宇），民间奇幻志怪的《化煞》（李佳恩），日式青春复古范的《三月的野兔》（黄靖雅），犯罪嫌疑色彩浓重的《往影里去》（游亦淳）将为你带来多元的类型化体验。
伴随疫情这只庞然巨兽的休眠甚至某种死亡，承前启后的2023年，我们依然在影像中寻找到难得的希望和活力，此刻，我们也许可以借用今年遗憾离世的万玛才旦导演曾经的诚挚之声：“祝贺年轻的电影人。”
Reconnecting in the Healing Journey
We are back on the track as the pandemic fades out. It’s a long way of recovery, a healing journey liberating us from the years-long isolation. If you are trying to rebuild the connection with others and the world, the new BISFF is for you. In the 2023 AURORA Chinese film Screening, we will present 27 new work by young creators, in full display of their insightful inspection of life.
What remain the most resonant topic are individual reflection and self-healing. Around it we have “To Break Water” with the focus on a diver’s trauma, and “Of Dreams in the Dream of Another Mirror” with its attempts to hear the voice of visually impaired children. “Luminous City” portrays a heroin alone in search of light in a utopia, and “Circus at Dusk” depicts a clown in pursuit of soul under his costume.
Some works unfolds in a more private way. As “Onychophagia", "Riddle or: A Child's Bestiary of Mountains and Seas"and "Shape of the Elephant", these various films present the creators’ unique aesthetic perspectives.
While there is kaleidoscopic presentation of the real world, including “Falling into Hot Water”, “Fuck the Image”, “Red Insomnia” and “Frontier”. Some explore the geography and history of interior and ocean, on the same wavelength but with different focus, as “After September”, “What You Can’t See” and “Children of Oil”; some break down interpersonal relationships within family and couple, between generations and nations, as “Three Crabs”, “Signifier & Signified”, “Bergamot” and “Like Wave Like Cloud”.
Establishing a more serious tone, “Our Invisible Scars” and “Close to You” stands out with their in-depth examination and provocative insights. “Dream of Splendor” discusses immigration issue; “Orchi(D)ad) questions fatherhood. These two films shines with their revolution in technique and creativity.
The AURORA is a prismatic showcase. "Innermost" blends cyberpunk and wuxia elements, and “March Hare” brings a flavor of Japanese youth literature. The diverse exhibition, also featured by an examination of Chinese tradition funeral in “Rest in Peace”, a look into eerie Chinese folklore in “From Here to Joy”, and a presentation of dark and suspenseful ambiance in “Shadow”, can satisfy different tastes.
We have witnessed the dark cloud of pandemic fizzles out over time in 2023, while shadow hangs over but sunshine penetrates. In this year, we are still struggling in search of hope. And the hope is here. Let’s celebrate this very moment, when the AURORA gently blankets us, and Wanma Tseden’s sincere voice still lingers: “Congratulation, you young filmmakers. “
