Chongyan Liu was born in Guizhou, China, and currently lives and works in Paris, France. She completed her undergraduate studies in the Oil Painting Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and earned her master’s degree from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She has now completed a two-year postgraduate program at Le Fresnoy - National Contemporary Visual Arts Studio in France. Her creative work spans various mediums, including documentary and fiction films, experimental moving image, as well as installation art, painting, and sculpture.

Chongyan’s works have been showcased at numerous prestigious international film festivals, including Berlinale Doc Lab, IDFA, Beijing International Short Film Festival, Seoul International Pride Film Festival, and Videoex.
