Diana Matsepuro

黛安娜·马采普罗

Diana Matsepuro trained as a cultural anthropologist and documentary film director. She moved from Moscow to New York City to study visual anthropology at NYU.
In 2022 she worked in the non-profit film production Birds Nest Foundation, where she directed and produced an experimental documentary film about birds in NYC. In May of 2023 she finished working on a short documentary about the phenomena of emptiness in Eastern Europe, Chernobyl nuclear accident, home, and sense of belonging. The topic of the film was inspired by her family history.
Before she came to the U.S. she studied and worked in South Korea and still finds passion and a lot of inspiration in Asian cultures. In Korea, she conducted interviews and produced an ethnographic video project about migrants and their cultural adaptation process.
She speaks three languages: Russian, Korean, and English, and does different other kinds of art, including photography, sculpture.
