Miguel de Jesus was born in Praia do Carvoeiro (Algarve) and grew up in Lisbon. He completed a Bachelor of Cinema in the editing department at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School (ESTC), and has worked with directors such as João Pedro Rodrigues, Fern Silva, Pia Borg and Paulo Carneiro. Cerro dos Pios (2019), his debut in directing, received the National Competition Jury Award at Doclisboa and the D.Quijote Award from the International Federation of Cineclubs at Caminhos do Cinema Português. His latest film, On Plains of Larger River & Woodlands (2024), has been shown at national
and international film festivals, such as IFFR Rotterdam, BAFICI, Indielisboa, Melbourne International Film Festival, etc.
