Yixuan Zhang is an artist working in moving image, sound, and creative writing. Born and raised primarily in China, she has focused on the collective unconscious and the hidden connection between banalities and violence. Excavating the construction, imperfections, and deconstruction of media across its history, she probes the underside of images and repurposes the tools we use to make and view them, exposing functions they rarely perform. She is currently a student in the Film/Video program at CalArts.
